278-bed student accommodation with commercial space and public realm improvements under construction on Kingston Road, Wimbledon.

The London Borough of Merton has granted planning permission for an innovative 278-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development on Kingston Road. The project includes a porter’s lodge, a 275m² commercial unit, new public realm and associated amenity space, transforming 0.26 hectares (0.64 acres) of previously developed land.

The site is strategically located just 0.5 miles (a 10-minute walk) from Wimbledon College of Arts (WCA), a prestigious institution offering world-class teaching in technical arts for theatre, film, and television.

The site’s prime location, bordered by Rutlish Road to the east, a tramway path to the west, and residential flats to the south, ensures excellent connectivity to Wimbledon and Croydon via tram. The project’s inclusion of a commercial unit and public realm enhancements will benefit students and the wider community alike.

Constructions works commenced in September 2024 with completion set for Summer 2026, in time for the new academic year.
